How to Circle a Word in Google Docs (Easiest Way in 2024)
In this article, we will show you how to circle a word in Google Docs in just a few simple steps. Simply follow the steps below.
How to Circle Words in Google Docs
To circle a word in Google Docs, we will work with an example document containing the word “Summer.” Follow the steps below.
1. Access the Drawing Tool from the Insert Menu
To start creating shapes, navigate to the `Insert` menu at the top of your Google Docs interface.
From the dropdown options, choose `Drawing` and then click on `+ New`. This action will open a new, separate drawing canvas where you can draw and edit shapes.
2. Draw a Circle Using the Shape Tool in the Drawing Canvas
Once the drawing canvas appears, locate the shapes icon on the toolbar. Click on this icon, hover over the ‘Shapes’ option, and select the ‘Oval’ shape option.
Then, use your mouse to click and drag on the canvas to form a circle.
3. Customize the Circle’s Color and Transparency for Clarity
To make the circle’s background transparent (so that it doesn’t obscure the word), click the fill color icon and select the transparent option (usually represented by a white box with a red line through it).
This setting will emphasize our word “Summer” without filling the circle with any color.
4. Save Your Drawing to Insert It into the Document
Click the `Save and Close` button located at the top right of the drawing window to add the circled word to your main document.
5. Move and Position the Circle to Encircle the Word
After drawing the circle, you can move it by clicking and dragging it across the canvas. In our example, we will position the circle so that it surrounds the word “Summer,” ensuring that the word is as centered as possible within the circle. This positioning will help highlight the word clearly.
6. Adjust the Circle’s Size or Position as Needed
If the circle needs resizing after you’ve inserted it into the document, click on the circle to select it. You’ll see small blue squares, or handles, at the borders of the circle. Click and drag these handles to resize the circle to better fit around the word.
